Calphalon Contemporary

Calphalon Aluminum Nonstick Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Heavy-gauge aluminum
  • 3 nonstick layers
  • Stainless steel handles
  • Compatible with electric, gas, halogen and glass stove tops

The great thing about the Calphalon nonstick cookware is that is has not 1, not 2 but 3 nonstick layers. Basically, you can afford to damage the nonstick 3 times before you’ve really actually damaged it. On top of this feature are many others that make it easy to use, provides good heat conductivity and is durable. Let’s look at its most attractive features.

Heavy-gauge aluminum

Material, obviously, is everything when it comes to cooking effectively. The heavy-gauge aluminum is used in this instance for the purpose of heating the whole pan as quickly as possible. When you’ve got a big meal to make and lots of guests appearing, every second count as you manically try to coordinate everything.

Stainless steel handles

The handles are sturdy, light and designed to stay cool. That’s about everything you need from your handles, right? It certainly beats dropping a whole pan of tomato sauce on the floor because the handles are too hot.

3 layers of nonstick

You might be thinking well, what do I need 3 layers for, won’t 1 do the job?

Well actually, there is such a thing as more or less nonstick. It all depends on the food release score. A good score would indicate that the pan could cook through 4 eggs consecutively and release easily once cooked. The best nonstick pots and pans then feature more layers than one. With the Calpahlon Series, there are 2 for durability and 1 for easy food release.

The Good:

  • High food release score-minimal sticking
  • Less oil means healthier eating
  • Heats up quickly
  • Oven and dishwasher safe
  • Lifetime warranty

The Bad:

  • Riveted handles are trickier to clean
  • Oil clings to pan together instead of spreading
  • Some customers have said the nonstick wore off over time
  • Cannot be used in induction stoves

Circolon Momentum – Best stainless steel nonstick cookware set

Circulon Momentum Stainless Steel Nonstick Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Stainless steel
  • TOTAL nonstick system
  • Metal utensil resistant
  • Tempered glass lids

It has to be said, the Circolon Momentum stainless steel exterior does make it look classy. But does that mean they have the best nonstick cookware set? Well, it does have many redeeming qualities but there are a few things that for some customers have meant it does not live up to its shine. Some simply prefer stainless steel.

TOTAL nonstick raised circles

This is a patented feature that Circolon are pretty proud of. It’s innovative and unique if nothing else. The nonstick design is first off, pretty effective and metal utensil safe. They have also incorporated raised circles which supposedly result in stronger abrasion resistance and better food release. The minority of customers have reported, however, that the high-low grooves trap food more than on a flat surface nonstick frying pan.

Stainless steel and induction cooktops

Hard anodized nonstick cookware is not compatible with induction stoves. So if you have one, this stainless steel nonstick cookware could be the set for you. Induction cooktops use an interesting new technology which involves an electromagnetic field which heats up the pan. Sounds like future sci-fi stuff right? Well, it would seem the future is here and it has come in the form of heating up a magnetic pan directly without having to wait for the transfer of heat from the burner to the pan.

The innovative lid and handle design

The tempered lids have this pretty nifty design which somehow allows you to throw your cookware all over the place without them shattering. The handles’ main frame is made of stainless steel and enhanced with silicone for good grip and sturdiness.

The Good:

  • Induction cooktop compatible
  • Dishwasher and oven safe
  • Polished design
  • Shatter-resistant glass lids
  • Lifetime warranty

The Bad:

  • Lacks a bigger saucepan
  • Isn’t scratch proof
  • Grooves can trap food-harder to clean

All-Clad HA1

All-Clad Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Stainless steel anti-warp base compatible with induction cooktops
  • Hard-anodized aluminum
  • Scratch-resistant nonstick

All-Clad cookware is American-made and known for its premium ranges. Sometimes it’s hard to trust the standards of nonstick cookware that comes from far away countries. All-Clad is a reliable American brand that consistently makes top-rated nonstick cookware. As is often the case, a good brand name means a higher price.

Hard anodized induction compatible

A lot of nonstick cookware reviews confuse buyers because they praise the fast induction cooktop but also praise the hard-anodized nonstick which often isn’t compatible with induction cooking. The beauty of the All-Clad is that it is both hard anodized and induction compatible. The stainless steel disc is the reason for this and is also good for heating food evenly. So as far as nonstick cookware reviews go, this one ticks all the best boxes.

Nonstick scratch resistant

That scratching sound of metal on the pan can make you really shiver and squirm and the leftover marks on your pan are pretty unattractive. Scratch-resistant technology means you can use all sorts of utensils on your pan without that horrible noise or knowledge that your nonstick frying pan has been damaged.

Thin handles

This is one of the negatives that kept coming up as a feature that dropped its chances from being the best-rated nonstick cookware. Though the handles are contoured for a comfortable grip, they are too thin which makes the heavy aluminum pan difficult to lift and move around.

The Good:

  • Induction cooktop compatible
  • Heats evenly
  • Well-reputed brand name
  • Good food release and easy to clean
  • Has a solid weight to it
  • Oven safe

The Bad:

  • The dishwasher may corrode and damage nonstick
  • Expensive brand
  • Hard to handle

Anolon Advanced

 Anolon Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Suregrip handle
  • Hard-anodized nonstick
  • 3 layers of nonstick, inside and out
  • Tempered glass lids

The bronze finish on the Anolon is pretty and polished, bringing a touch of refined elegance to the home. Maybe you want to hang it up on the wall for all to see. It’s also praised by reviewers, customers, and professional chefs. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something specifically good at not making food stick but not good if you have an induction cooktop or if you want to dishwash your nonstick pan. Well, we all make compromises in life I suppose.

Hard-anodized construction

What is this hard-anodized stuff that everyone is saying I should get? It’s actually a non -stick system that is twice as hard as stainless steel. Twice as hard means twice as durable and twice as efficient heat conductivity. Really, everyone is talking about it, you should know about it by now.

Excellent nonstick

The interior nonstick is enforced by 3 great layers of a Dupont Autograph formula. This is made without PFOA and is backed by multiple nonstick cookware reviews and professional chefs saying it has one of the most durable nonstick coatings. The set includes a range of nonstick saucepans, a nonstick saute pan, a stockpot, a nonstick shallow grill pan, and a nonstick skillet.

Not dishwasher safe

This does not necessarily mean that this option is not the best nonstick cookware. Some people actually prefer hand washing their dishes. Admittedly, dishwashers use up more water and energy so you could save on the bills with this set. Although, it can make washing up less of a burden and more efficient. It’s down to you.

The Good:

  • Hard-anodized nonstick for durability and even heating
  • Excellent nonstick for very good food release
  • Oven safe
  • Break-resistant glass

The Bad:

  • Not dishwasher safe
  • Not induction compatible
  • Handles get hot

T-Fal Hard Anodized

 T-fal Hard-Anodized Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • 17 piece set
  • Thermo-spot indicator
  • Pro-metal nonstick
  • Techno resist base

You will see two cookware sets from T-Fal on this list. Deciding which one is the best nonstick cookware set will depend on what kind of cooking you do and how much you want to spend. Some people love their induction cooktops like a best friend, some prefer the old-fashioned cooktops. The T-Fal hard-anodized are for those who prefer the traditional stovetops where you can tell how hot the burner is easy. Let’s see what else these nonstick pans have to offer.

17-pieces set

This set is the best nonstick cookware set on the list for value for money. For a reasonable price, included in the set you will receive a nonstick frying Pan, one with a lid, one without, a nonstick square griddle, 3 nonstick saucepans with lids, a deep saute, a dutch oven with a lid, a steamer insert with two side handles, and a one egg wonder.

Thermo-spot indicator

This is a feature found in both T-Fal frying pans on this list but is worth mentioning as it makes them contenders for the best nonstick frying pan spot. The red circle in the middle glows red, conveniently telling you exactly when it is hot enough and you can begin cooking. It’s always disappointing splashing pancake batter on a pan that’s not hot enough yet and then getting a pancake that’s not cooked evenly.

Hard-anodized aluminum

So hard-anodized is great because it’s super hard and we all like hard things. However, unlike our other T-fal set, it is not compatible with induction cook-tops. If you’re deciding based on this factor and want induction cooking, this is not the set for you. While they have an effective nonstick coating and TechnoResist base for even heating, customers have said compared to other sets, they are not the best nonstick pots and pans. But if you need a bunch of pans that do their job, these are good for you.

The Good:

  • Lots of pans for a cheap price
  • Dishwasher and oven safe
  • Silicone covered handles
  • Effective nonstick
  • Thermo-spot indicator tells you when the pan is hot enough

The Bad:

  • Dishwashing the pans will void the warranty
  • Exteriors show wear over time
  • Customers have said it does not heat food evenly

T-Fal (Induction base) – Best nonstick cookware set for induction cooktop

 T-fal Nonstick Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Prometal pro nonstick interior
  • Thermo-spot indicator
  • Riveted silicone handles
  • Aluminum core with stainless steel

You might want to think that T-Fal gets its name from the ever-infamous Teflon you might have heard of. Teflon is actually a brand name developed by Dupoint Co who patented this nonstick material. T-Fal is not Teflon but it works just as well and is pretty durable. Some say Teflon cookware has some unwanted risks.  T-Fal’s effective nonstick and stainless steel ensures that cooking is both safe and compatible with induction cooktops. Looking at all of the T-Fal products, we believe this set has the best nonstick cookware.

Riveted silicone handles

Riveted handles are handles that bond the plates of metal in such a way that ensures longer ware. Most stainless steel nonstick cookware features this but it really can make the difference between a durable, easy-to-handle pan and a flimsy pan. The silicone also gives a satisfying grip. So even if you do get your hands greasy among the havoc of cooking, there’s no chance your fingers are going to slip and drop anything.

Prometal pro nonstick

The nonstick is on both the inside and the outside of the pan. Customers have reported that the nonstick is reliable and makes clean-up easy. Sometimes we might spill a bit of food over the edge of the pan or drop food on the exteriors. The nonstick exterior which you may not find on a lot of other nonstick cookware enables you to clean this muck off in a flash.

Aluminum and stainless steel construction

The good news is that these are relatively lightweight pans. Some like a solid weight to their pan while others struggle with serving up while holding a big pot of stew. If you are of the latter group, then these lightweight pans could be the ones for you. You can thank the aluminum for that. You can also thank the stainless steel for getting the pan heated evenly. Stainless steel is known for being better at this than aluminum.

The Good:

  • Induction cooking compatible
  • Heats quickly and evenly
  • Riveted silicone handles
  • Thermo-spot indicator tells you when the pan is hot enough
  • Lightweight design
  • Dishwasher and oven safe

The Bad:

  • Frying pans don’t have lids
  • Bottom of the pans not completely flat

Rachael Ray Cucina

Rachael Ray Hard Porcelain Nonstick Cookware

KEY FEATURES:
  • Hard enamel porcelain exteriors
  • Dual-riveted rubberized stainless steel handles
  • Shatter-resistant glass lids
  • Slotted spoon and turner

For those of you who like to cook in style, the Rachael Ray Cucina offers 7 different options of color, from a funky purple to an earthy lemongrass green. Whichever color you pick, the design is made with you in mind to add vitality to your mealtime experiences. Even though it is not dishwasher or induction cooktop compatible, this does not mean it is not worthy of an expert’s delicious recipe. Alongside its style is good functionality. It’s got a sturdy build and the top-rated nonstick cookware releases food almost effortlessly.

Shatter-resistant glass lids

Sometimes you need to let the sauce simmer but just can’t get it to cook fast enough. You put the lid on and come back later to find that it’s all evaporated and your sauce is as thick as sludge. The glass lid enables you to peek in on your beautiful sauce before the worst happens. The shatter resistance is reliable and tough as well.

Slotted spoon and turner

A lovely little addition to this set is the slotted grooves on the side of the spoon and turner which rests comfortably on the edge of the pan while you wait for things to cook. It’s a quick solution to the long-standing problem of not knowing what to do with your spoon when you need to put it down but don’t want it on your bare counter surface.

What else is included in the set?

The 12inch nonstick skillet is pretty big so you can cook up huge stir-fries. It may be the best nonstick skillet you ever own with its thick enamel ensuring an even cook throughout your food. The stockpot is great for big stews or pasta dishes for all the family but depending on your family size some customers have said it is not big enough. The sauté pans are great for burgers, seafood or caramelizing.

The Good:

  • Offered in a variety of colors
  • Even and thick enamel cooks food evenly
  • Easy and comfortable handling
  • Big skillet pan
  • Oven safe

The Bad:

  • Not induction cooktop compatible
  • Must use plastic utensils, not metal
  • Not dishwasher safe

Bialetti Granito

Bialetti Nonstick Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Heavy-duty aluminum construction
  • Triple-layered
  • Granite nonstick
  • Tempered glass lids

Bialetti has a number of series of pots and pans but if you want the best nonstick, the Granito range has the best-rated nonstick cookware. The granite nonstick is unique in both functionality and appearance. Speckled and oh so smooth, this ceramic nonstick cookware really feels high-end and professional. The Italian name also adds a little to that feeling. And of course, the fast, long-lasting nonstick that makes sticky situations in the kitchen a thing of the past.

Triple-layered

The three layers are made up of a high-temp silicone, lightweight, heat-distributing aluminum, and an effective granite nonstick. The longer the nonstick lasts in between topping up the pan with butter or oil, the healthier you are. Oil is, unfortunately, a necessary evil in the world that causes weight gain and health complications. This durable 3 layered system allows you to use way less oil for more grub.

Granite nonstick

Not a lot of people know that some recent research has shown that Teflon cookware could actually not be as healthy for you due to some chemicals that it releases. This unique granite alternative is popular and not so expensive it will break the bank. However, compared to some other cookware sets, it is expensive considering there are only 10 pieces to the set.

Thick even heat base

We’re not sure of the science behind how this works but the material and construction of the Bialetti’s base makes it so not only is the heat distributed evenly but the food is able to remain at a controlled simmer at all times. It’s beautiful when you see it, but you’ll have to buy it first. We think overall, it’s worth it so long as you don’t want them in the dishwasher or on induction cooktops.

The Good:

  • Easy food release
  • Long-lasting nonstick
  • Evenly distributed heat throughout pan and food
  • Triple-layered for extra durability
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Oven safe

The Bad:

  • Expensive for a small set of pans
  • Handles get a little hot to the touch
  • Not compatible with induction cooktops
  • Not dishwasher safe

Gotham Steel Professional

Gotham Hard Anodized Cookware Set

KEY FEATURES:
  • Gotham steel titanium and ceramic nonstick
  • Stainless steel cool-touch handles
  • Can use with metal utensils
  • Break-resistant glass lids

So, you’ve seen the word Gotham and thought Batman. You’ve seen the word Titanium and thought David Guetta and invincible material. Put the two together and you’re probably thinking if this lives up to its name, then that would be money well spent. The Gotham Steel Professional series, however, has not as many raving reviews as the Batman series did. While it’s got some good features and clever ideas, they just don’t measure up other ceramic nonstick cookware.

Gotham steel titanium and ceramic nonstick

After realizing that Teflon cookware could present certain health risks, buyers became more familiar with ceramic nonstick brands. The Gotham Steel Professional is still able to provide a bit of nonstick but reports have shown that it struggles without oil or butter. Consuming those extra bits of oil and butter over time is going to make you unhealthier. You can still get your food off the pan, it just doesn’t ease off like silk as some other brands do.

Can use with metal utensils

You might think well even if a nonstick skillet can’t handle my metal spatula, I can just use my plastic one. Maybe, but the metal one has a thinner flat that makes it easier to scoop things up like fine crepes. Metal is sturdier and less flimsy so you can feel comfortable and in control while cooking. The Gotham Steel Professional skillets and pans showed no sign of scratching from the metal utensils, nor from the dishwasher. On account of its small size at 8 inches, we would also note that this series does not feature the best nonstick skillet on our list.

Cool-touch handles

It’s important not to forget that your nonstick cookware should be as safe as possible. It’s all well and good having a fancy pan that nothing will ever stick to but it’s probably not worth it that you end up burning yourself. Hot handles can result in dropping your pan on yourself and possibly some scalding hot water as well. The Gotham Steel’s cool touch handles make cooking worry and hazard-free.

The Good:

  • Scratch resistant
  • Hard anodized aluminum
  • Cool touch handles
  • Dishwasher and oven safe
  • Lifetime guarantee

The Bad:

  • Nonstick is not of great quality, causing food to stick and making clean up more difficult
  • Not compatible with induction cooktops

Paula Deen Signature Collection

Paula Deen Signature Collection Cookware

KEY FEATURES:
  • Colorful speckled exterior
  • Durable Dupont Teflon nonstick
  • Stain-resistant porcelain
  • Dual-riveted soft-touch handles
  • Tempered glass lids

This particular set may be the best nonstick cookware. You might say that just by looking at it but it’s nonstick isn’t too shabby either. The DuPoint Teflon may have become unpopular due to its concerns around health risks, but it sure is reliable. Alongside the porcelain finish, the nonstick stays nonstick and cooks your food evenly. All this and it’s a good price for a whole bunch of the best nonstick pots and pans.

Stain-resistant porcelain

The speckled porcelain is exciting to look at but it’s got more than looks. It also resists any stains. Unlike a lot of colored pans which chip and ware over time, this beauty will stay beautiful forever.

Heavy gauge base

This set has just the best non-stick frying pan. It does not burn or scorch food at all. Finally, a pan we can rely on. This is due to its heavy-gauge base. It is attractive, professional, efficient, and easy. We’d say it’s basically an all-around charmer. You can choose from 7 different vibrant colors including blueberry, butter, coral, pearl, oatmeal, red, and robin’s egg blue

5 piece measuring spoon set

This is a nice little feature we’d thought we’d add in the review for those of you who like to get precise with their cooking and measure out that dash of balsamic vinegar perfectly. There are 5 different measuring spoons in this set that can be used for a diverse range of cooking. Baking, sautéing, boiling- you name it.

The Good:

  • Large 15 piece set at a good price
  • 7 different colors to choose from
  • Reliable nonstick
  • Stain-resistant
  • Does not scorch or burn food
  • Oven safe

The Bad:

  • Cannot use with metal utensils
  • Not dishwasher safe

Things to consider when looking for the best nonstick cookware set

Materials

Nonstick cookware is usually either aluminum or stainless steel. Or sometimes you get the best of both worlds which is great but often more expensive. The difference seems to be that aluminum is particularly good at heating up things fast while stainless is good at heating your food evenly. Aluminum is also lightweight and easier to clean up than stainless steel.

There are also some other ceramic options, copper and cast iron. Ceramic models can heat things slowly and evenly but are not always dishwasher friendly and are heavier. Cast Iron is durable but the heaviest of options.

Nonstick coating

So, you want the best nonstick on the market. It’s tough to accurately pin down which one that is. You have to consider if it is scratch-resistant, has an easy clean-up, and how durable it is. Tripled layered is best for extra durability, helping it to last longer.

Ceramic nonstick has been said to not be very durable or have an easy clean up as say Teflon. Teflon, while remaining the most effective non-stick with easy food release does, however, come with some risks. Rumor has it that Teflon might give off unhealthy chemicals when heated too high. Ceramics are also a more environmentally friendly option. Enamel coating could be considered a happy medium between the two.

Handles and lids

You want sturdy handles that make picking up your pan comfortable and enjoyable. The best way to get this is through riveted handles. It makes your pan a tiny bit more expensive but this is a sign that your pans are not low-grade cheap pans that will not last very long. Rubber handles are not good for ovens but have a good grip, while silicone handles have a great friction grip and can be put in high temperatures in the oven.

Your lids should also have these silicone or rubber handles to avoid the shock of the hot temperature when you lift your lid. Tempered glass that is shatter resistant will also be found on higher-end cookware sets that are willing to spend a little more on their products for more durability. It’s up to you whether you mind seeing your food while it cooks or not, but for those who are connoisseurs in the kitchen and want their food cooked perfectly, this feature is a must.

Induction cooktop?

Induction cooking is becoming more and more popular. I’ve you haven’t heard about it yet, the way it works is pretty fascinating. Most electric and gas stoves pass their heat through a series of resistant copper coils. Induction cooking uses an electromagnetic field that directly heats up the pan through direct magnetic conduction. So overall, your food gets cooked quicker and more evenly.

Hard-anodized aluminum is nice and hard but not compatible with induction stovetops. So, if you’ve got one, stainless steel is a better option.

Dishwasher friendly

You should probably consider your material and non-stick before you consider whether the set is dishwasher-friendly. However, if hand washing dishes really is one of those chores you hate to even think about, then you may want to consider getting a dishwasher safe set. Having said that, any professional set of cookware is going to last longer if you hand wash them.
